e-i-e-i-whoa!

The MoMo magic all begins with a trip to the lumber yard - bringing a stack of raw wood to the MoMo workshop.

The animal structure is built with a strong foundation and then brought almost to life with attention to mimicking the animal’s details and idiosyncrasies.

It is a true treat to create MoMo farm stools with amazingly soft wool Iowa-grown fibers.

Over 40 handcrafting hours goes into each farm stool - all towards making this creation into a fun and functional piece of artwork to share with you.

Jigsawing, cutting, drilling, sanding, painting, fitting the puzzle pieces together

Filling and foaming the animal’s body - and sealing the shape with stapled fabric

Covering the animal with muslin and handfelted wool, glued and sewn on with dental floss

Drilling nose and hooves and attaching tail

Adhering walnut-dyed cornhusk eyelashes

Final touches with MoMo bell + tag

Molar Mountain

Growing up on a farm in rural Dallas County, Iowa, with my parents and three sisters, I always looked forward to going to sale barn with my dad on his day off from his real job. Dad refers to hilly pasture as “Molar Mountain” which is the inspiration for Molar Mountain Farm Stools. Still today, I love spending time on the farm, talking to the animals, working the land - and getting my hands dirty helping Dad on the farm.

I built a farm stool - and couldn't stop.
